This program is a wonderful program the PTA provides to all grades from K-5. This event is provided once every quarter (for school year 2014-2015, it will be increased to 4 or 5 times).
Details: The Chairperson trains other art lit volunteers to present prepared Art Lit projects in the classrooms with supplies that are provided for each project. Training normally happens in the first week of every quarter (although this year, we might try sending YouTube video training links to volunteers to make it easier). After the training, contact the teacher and choose a date to do the project. Avoid overlapping with other classes to avoid sharing provided supplies.
Chair: Hisako Lam
Boeckman Creek has a variety of its own spirit wear, including t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats and shorts. Orders must be taken and delivered to the classrooms once they arrive at the school.
Details: At the beginning of the year, contact Hometown in West Linn (they are our community member) and verify if cost has changed from the previous year. Ask them to update the order form. Make a flyer promoting our spirit wear and have students bring them home. The order form link will be on our school website. For 2014-2015, we are recommending that parents order and complete payment online. This should keep things more simple, uses less paper and increases our “green” cred!
Chair: Eva Ellison
This is a wonderful 2- day event where students bring books that they no longer read and get to exchange them for different books.
Details: The chairperson works with the school secretaries to choose the best two days for this event. One week prior to the event, students will bring their books and volunteers will collect and count them. Ideally we want to collect 3,000 books so we can provide 4 books to each student (this will vary based on student enrollment). The chairperson is in charge of making flyers and distributing them. Attendance on the first day of the event is highly recommended.
Chair: Kheuyn Meinling-Wess

This is a program to organize fundraising events with local restaurants and businesses. Doing it monthly throughout the year is our goal, but it all depends on the school schedule and our business partners’ schedule.
Details: The Chairperson chooses a business and then contacts the manager to see if they are interested in becoming our community partner. They negotiate what percent of sales are to be donated to Boeckman, then choose the date, organize and publicize the event. This creates relationships with local businesses that are mutually beneficial. The Chairperson is in charge of making the flyers and distributing them.

Details: At the end of the year, begin coordinating with 4th grade parents in preparation for next year’s 5th Grade Recognition, to show them what it entails as well as solicit volunteers. It is important to contact the current 5th Grade Recognition chairperson(s) to learn best practices for organizing next year’s 5th Grade Recognition. Having some parent volunteers lined up for the day of event is highly recommended! Attendance is required the day of the event.

Find sponsors in town to cover Fun Run t-shirt costs. At the beginning of the year, visit each class and size every student and teacher. Order the t-shirts. Then schedule the Fun Run assembly with the secretaries (typically a week before the event). Order envelops for pledges. School secretaries will coordinate the schedule for the day of the event. Chairperson is in charge of making flyers and distributing them. Attendance on the day of the event is highly recommended.
